Important - Please read before going out

Obviously, safety is the paramount issue when you are out. Some imperative items for nearly all jaunts:-

  • Always take note of the Weather forecast - Links to BBC Weather for Poole   Weymouth   Lyme Regis
  • Ensure you have sensible footwear
  • Always carry at least a small First Aid Kit of plasters and a bandage
  • A survival bag has many uses and it is recommended to always carry one
  • If you are going out on your own, always inform someone of your expected end-time and destination
  • Always carry a pen, paper and whistle
  • If walking on the road, walk on the right-hand side of the road, facing the on-coming traffic
  • The roads can be very narrow and busy – always wear a helmet when biking
  • Ordnance Survey Map OL15, to backup the directions and to give any alternative routes or information, if required, is advisable.
Also, please:-
  • On the MOD Ranges, keep within the yellow posts, which are put there for your safety
  • Leave gates as you find them
  • Be generous enough to leave the suggested donation at the car parks
  • Be considerate with farm animals and the wildlife you meet
  • Keep any dogs under control
  • Do not pick any flowers
  • Please keep bikes to the permitted bridleways
